THE ROLE

Reports to President and CPO and is responsible for developing, coordinating, facilitating, and administering all Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center fund development programs.Β

Β 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identifies potential contributors including individuals, corporations, and foundations. Β Develops cooperative working relationships with medical staff, administration, trustees, and the community.
  • Develops, secures approval of, and administers short- and long-range development plans designed to assist the hospital in fulfilling its mission through increased philanthropic support. Β Plans and implements capital campaigns, annual giving campaigns, and planned gifts.
  • Assists the Foundation Board of Directors in their responsibilities as the fund-raising arm of the hospital. Β Assists the Board in creation and implementation of policies and procedures that will ensure utilization of the most effective, economical, and ethical methods of resource development.
  • Develops and administers development budget consistent with the operating and strategic plan.
  • Develops strategies to obtain contributions.
  • Confers with appropriate hospital executives to develop presentations for prospective donors.
  • Coordinates all proposals, requests, and applications for gifts/grants in support of Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center programs and capital needs ensuring no duplication of significant overlap.
  • In collaboration with Marketing Department, directs preparation of printed materials.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, directs, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges subordinate personnel.
  • Maintains professional contact with other institutions, associations, and organizations which affect hospital development programs. Β Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, and the like.Β

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree Communication, Business AdministrationΒ or equivalent educ/experience.
  • Master's Degree (Preferred) Β Β 
  • 10 or more years Fund development experience.
  • 5 years Progressively more responsible related work experience, including at least 3 years as a fund raiser in a hospital or similar organization, necessary in order to understand fund raising techniques and concepts, to develop sources of contributions, as well, as make persuasive presentations to potential donors. Β Also necessary in order to acquire skills to persuade potential donors, and to develop effective monitoring activities of subordinates.
  • 8 years Philanthropy-related leadership experience.
  • Hospital fund raising experience. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of fund development, grant proposal preparations, accounting, and statistics in order to express ideas clearly and concisely, and to develop strategies and plans for long-range an immediate fund development program.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively and persuasively with a variety of influential internal and external contacts when eliciting cooperation and support for the hospital, and to effectively direct and motivate activities of subordinates.
  • Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to determine effective fund development strategies, identify potential sources of contribution, and develop short- and long-term development goals and objective for the hospital.
  • Proficient in required competencies upon completion or orientation as listed on the unit specific competency inventory.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with the Foundation and Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center (PCSTMC) leadership, physicians, staff, volunteers and all donors and prospects
  • Demonstrated ability in management, finance, communication and marketing.
