DescriptionThe Philanthropy Director, Oncology leads and coordinates key strategic development and functional services to support Inova Health System's Foundation objectives and organizational goals. Maintains effective and responsive relationships with volunteers, medical staff, Inova leadership, and other departments/facilities. Manages department finances including budgeting and control of expenses. Takes ownership of the development, planning, design, and implementation of fundraising programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures that department operations are in full compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards.
- Responds promptly to requests from other departments or staff and maintains cooperative relationships accordingly.
- Provides leadership and staff support to Board members, volunteers, and committees to meet fundraising objectives.
- Holds self, staff, and other leaders accountable for results including exceeding donor, volunteer and customer expectations.
- Coordinates and monitors the development of annual plans and budgets.
- Monitors financial performance to ensure it meets budgeted revenue/expense ratios.
- Oversees fundraising and donor relations-related activities.
- Organizes, monitors, and coordinates fundraising activities.
- Manages a portfolio of approximately 75 – 100 qualified relationships.
- Establishes an annual and ongoing strategic/systematic focus on closing six – seven-figure commitments for individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Ensures that the ongoing process of identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and re-solicitation of prospects and donors occurs successfully.
Minimum Requirements:
- 6 years related professional experience in fundraising, financial planning, wealth management, sales, marketing.
- 10 years of progressive professional related experience.
- Bachelors degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience fundraising for high level donations ($25,000+)
- Experience in healthcare fundraising (Oncology specfically preferred but not required)
