Position Overview:

The Philanthropy Officer III will manage and be responsible for driving the overall performance of a portfolio of annual giving prospects for the San Francisco Market Area. Collaborate with the local philanthropy team, physicians, senior leaders and philanthropy leadership to identify, cultivate, steward and solicit donors and prospects with a focus on donor retention and acquisition. Also manage a portfolio of physician philanthropy partners with the goal of educating physician partners, to engage and support philanthropy at Sutter Health. Expected to achieve revenue and cost of funds goals through prudent budget management and active revenue-based strategies to fully engage the community in supporting the mission of Sutter Health.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Bachelor's

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Five years of recent relevant experience.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Travel throughout the region is required, as is occasional evening and weekend work and the ability to adjust to the department's other needs.

Strong interpersonal skills, self-confident, diplomatic, collaborative, team player, strategic, good judgment, with utmost respect for confidentiality.

Ability to represent Philanthropy to external audiences through strong verbal and written communication skills.

Must have the ability to prioritize in a highly complex and fast-moving environment.

Able to keep the larger vision in mind even while working with a team to support the smallest details.

The ability to engender trust with a wide range of people, as well as confidentiality and finesse, will be crucial in this high-touch, stewardship-oriented role.

Proven track record of developing and advancing significant private philanthropic support.

In-depth knowledge of the local service area and its constituency, culture and philanthropic practices.

Documented success personally by implementing sophisticated, multi-year cultivation strategies that use a relationship-building and moves management approach, leading to the successful closure of significant gifts.

Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively in person, writing, and by phone.

Ability to work independently and also within a complex structure and evolving team.

Collaborative problem solver who can take the initiative and set priorities.

Team-oriented thinker and strategist are able to effectively respond to complicated situations involving numerous and sometimes competing organizational constituencies.

A dynamic personality who will strongly advocate for Philanthropy in the community.

Ability to prepare written communication on fundraising programs.

Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties. Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects.

Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans.

Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of information systems to support fundraising activities.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Pay Range is $50.93 to $76.39 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
