POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The VP of Philanthropy and Mission Advancement leads the Y’s fundraising strategy, secures financial support for programs and services, and fosters relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders. The VP of Philanthropy and Mission Advancement drives charitable support, ensures sustainability of the Y mission, and maintains strong, positive relationships to strengthen community.Β

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop and implement an effective, comprehensive annual campaign strategy and program for the Y in collaboration with senior, executive, and volunteer leadership.
  2. Leads, manages, and staffs annual fundraising campaigns, special events, projects, and committees.
  3. Identifies and cultivates new funding sources, strategies, major gift prospects, and strategies for donor retention.
  4. Recruits, hires, trains, and develops Financial Development staff and volunteers, developing strategies to motivate team members to achieve goals.
  5. Monitor and report fundraising progress, providing regular updates to Senior leadership and Board of Directors.
  6. Collaborates with the Marketing/Communications department to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support.
  7. Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders.
  8. Oversees donor correspondence and establishes systems for timely and appropriate recognition of donations.
  9. Collaborates with branch leadership to identify, recruit, and train branch volunteers in gift solicitation.
  10. Serves as a primary staff to the financial development committee of the Board of Directors.
  11. Collaborate with President/CEO on capital development plans and campaign.


Β QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field
    1. Β MBA preferred, but not required
    2. May be substituted with an associate’s degree and at least two years of related work experience
    3. May be substituted with at least four years of related work experience
  • At least five or more years of substantive experience in fundraising, annual giving campaigns, and special events.
  • Experience in working closely with volunteers and in staffing volunteer committees/events.
  • Familiarity with the principles of annual campaign organization and marketing.
  • Excellent writing, organizational and communications skills.Β 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, volunteers, senior leaders, and the public.
  • Previous experience with voluntary/nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Completion of YMCA required trainings
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

STARTING PAY: $108,716 - $125,000 annually DOE
