Salary Range:            $129,900.00 - $185,000.00 annually *

The Diversity and Inclusion Program Manager works closely with the Associate Director of Attorney Development and Diversity, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, and various committees and stakeholders to manage and implement the firm’s strategies to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and objectives for programs. Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Attorney Development and Diversity, the Diversity and Inclusion Program Manager works independently and collaboratively to manage critical diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)  programs, initiatives, and is a trusted resource for associates, partners and firm management.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

Program Management

  • At the direction of the Associate Director of Attorney Development and Diversity, proposes and implements the firm’s DEI program strategy, and operationalizes the delivery of the programs and initiatives by working directly with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee and subcommittees on the execution of action items and tasks.
     
  • In conjunction with affinity group co-chairs, oversees administrative management of all firm affinity group development and operationalize efforts for lawyers and allies to build community. Proposes opportunities for engagement and develop program plans in collaboration with the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator.
     
  • Utilizes metrics to produce data reports including developing visual presentations. Manages the collection and analysis of data related to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and programs, provides insights and recommendations to inform decision-making as it relates to the progress and success of the firm’s efforts. Manages and executes client survey requests and other data inquiries.

  • Establishes tracking mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives and efforts. Prepares reports for the Associate Director of Attorney Development and Diversity and DEI Committee co-chairs and uses data to drive recommendations on improvements and areas of growth opportunity for the firm’s community engagement in DEI activities.
     
  • Drives firm affinity group and initiatives efforts by driving progress on monthly deliverables and following up on action items, proposing plans, and managing events and engagement activities in alignment with team goals and timelines.
     
  • Manages responses to client requests and industry benchmarking surveys involving qualitative and quantitative information.
     
  • In conjunction with leadership and the Associate Director of Attorney Development and Diversity, the Attorney Development Program Manager develops, maintains and facilitates attorney learning and development programs. Manages diversity training programs that enhance the firm’s understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion, promoting a culture of inclusivity and awareness. Programs include routine DEI training. Identifies and researches innovative workshops and facilitators related to diversity and inclusion.
     
  • Stays updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, through involvement with the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals (ALFDP) and the National Association for Law Placement (NALP). Uses knowledge to inform the continued growth and development of the firm’s DEI efforts and the creation and/or establishment of new initiatives.
     
  • Manages the accuracy of the firm’s diversity internal intranet pages by ensuring online content is relevant, including committee membership and email distribution lists; meetings are on calendar and tracks activities of each task force initiative; tracks and shares with team diversity trends, articles and resources; remains current on industry learning and development opportunities via industry organizations (e.g., NALP, PDC, etc.).
     
  • Oversees the planning and execution of MTO/LEAP Fellows Program and diversity events, initiatives, programs, trainings, workshops, and other related events in collaboration with Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator. 
     
  • Identifies, tracks, and produces diversity metrics/reports to show progress, historical trends, and breakdowns by initiatives and results that are industry specific. Maintains data on competitors and competitive trends in diversity and research emerging trends in law firms that impact DEI.
     
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Data and Information Management

  • Works with appropriate parties to ensure diversity information and statistics are maintained and readily accessible.
     
  • Analyzes work assignment data to ensure equitable access to and distribution of client opportunities.
     
  • Researches and makes recommendations on technology tools to assist with associate work allocation and utilization, performance reviews, and development initiatives. 
     
  • Prepares regular and ad hoc reports as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required. 

  • 5+ years of experience as a diversity manager preferred; law firm experience required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and professionals.

  • Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change.

  • Must have ability to work with minimal supervision on many projects and initiatives.   

  • Ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, all levels of business services and contacts outside the Firm both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to use independent judgment, problem solve, take initiative and follow through.

  • Ability to use HRIS, timekeeper systems and other talent systems to retrieve data.

  • Expert ability to build strong relationships and operate as a trusted advisor to individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong data and analytics knowledge and ability to review metrics, measure value and take appropriate action to move forward on initiatives.

  • Ability to be available, as needed, to work extended hours, nights, weekends.
