SUMMARY:

The Senior Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Officer drives the creation and implementation of strategic initiatives that further the agency's mission to build equitable outcomes. This position serves as an ambassador for the organization, building collaborative partnerships, leading innovative policy development, and leveraging data and storytelling to advance equity work. As a member of the CSF's Executive Team, this position demonstrates thoughtful leadership, an unwavering commitment to racial equity, and works with partners across the organization and throughout the region to support racial equity work.

The DEI Officer will lead the organization's efforts to build a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion for all staff, students and community partners, The DEI Officer will guide, manage, and support efforts to define, assess, nurture, and cultivate justice as an organizational resource. With a particular focus on antiracist policies and practices, the DEI Officer commits time and resources to ensure that outcomes across various employee groups are equitable. This position will collaborate with other departments and teams to highlight, improve, and execute priorities, strategies, and behaviors designed to make CSF a more equitable workplace.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and oversees the implementation of cross-functional strategies, policies, and initiatives that supports the organization's mission to drive shared success and advance racial equity work.
  • Provides overall strategic direction and methodology for CSF's equity and cross-functional programs, policies, and initiatives that deliver on agency goals and objectives.

  • Design, build, and manage various programs, training classes, workshops, and events to provide the staff and stakeholders an opportunity to deepen their understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion efforts and learn more about themselves becoming anti-racist.

  • Research, design, and execute an organizational strategy to ensure all staff learn and progress in the CSF anti-racism work and equity vision.

  • Facilitate and guide the organization in our journey to further develop and deliver inclusionary practices to promote a more inclusive work environment.

  • Review current policies, practice, and procedures, assess, and analyze the extent to which they support or hinder the organization's diversity goals.

  • Increase DEI efforts in staff recruitment process.

  • Develop and/or acquire training to promote diversity and retention initiatives.

  • Maintain and amplify knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices with the organization.

  • Lead efforts in policy and practices that develop inclusive and safe environments for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (LGBTQ+) population and follow new LGBTQ+ legislation.

  • Lead and support leadership as they implement equity, diversity and inclusion efforts.

  • Controls sensitive/confidential information, requiring discretion, high levels of tact, and confidentiality.

  • Lead special projects or assist with other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.

  • Microsoft Office365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook).

  • Strong verbal and written and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a positive and supportive manner, particularly with engaging in difficult conversations about equity-related issues, race and racism, bias and identify systemic inequities.

  • Advanced knowledge of best practices, models, and tools to embed racial equity within policies, projects, and public engagement.

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques.

  • Ability to navigate complex issues, leading change and driving strong results. The ability to work across teams and with all leaders is essential.

  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.

  • Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on consultative and facilitation skills.

  • Intuitively proactive with strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive, confidential information.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proven ability to adapt in a changing environment.

  • Have a positive attitude and be a team player.

  • Ability to comply with the organizations COVID-19 vaccination policy.

  • Ability to travel to local regional offices and may be required to travel up to 10% for other organization travel obligations.

  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
